MILAN FASHION WEEK ` S/S 2012

Oh Milan Fashion Week, started off with Gucci and ended with Roberto Cavalli.  These shows show us how much we appreciate Italian fashion. With Gucci's roaring 20's style, filled with flapper-like dresses, fringe, the rich emerald green and mandarin colors, to Missoni's vibrant energy on the runway, and celebrating Roberto Cavalli's 40th anniversary in Milan. We love you Milan.

During Milan Fashion Week, we knew that Dolce and Gabbana announced that their Spring/Summer 2012 would be their last.  After 26 years of great design, we take a look at their final line.

Now as Paris Fashion week goes on, stay tuned for posts for that.
Ciao Milan! Until next fashion week!

WRAP UP ` London Fashion Week

As the designer says himself, this collection was "Joyous, upbeat, and nostalgic."  We all know every line has a storyline to it.  Christopher Bailey, the designer, states the scenario as a "military wife, whos husband is stationed in the Far East, fills her idle hours by watching and learning from local artisans."  The colors brings out a military feel; the deep plum, burnt orange, hunter green, and mustard yellow.  All the details in the line are something that just drives us crazy!  The beading down the trench [and also the shoes], geometric wooden buttons...everything! Love every piece of it.

Now let's talk about something shiny.  Like, the Giles Spring/Summer 2012 Collection! Talk about amazing-ness to the max. Giles Deacon said that he gained inspiration and was influenced by the Beaton's Symphony in Silver, and from the Warhol Factory, Silver Clouds.  Giles seems to incorporate the red, black, silver, animal print lace, and white pieces all together very well (how chic).  I can't get over the metallic laser cut top [the picture on the right].  I'm OBSESSING over it.  And how about those elaborate swan headpieces? WOW! Love love love.

This whole line an explosion of color, and I love it.  Nothing screams a Spring/Summer line wth bold and vibrant colors like Katrantzou's.   Katrantzou has a use of flowers [in which are blown up to show a 3D metal], patterns, sculptural forms in the clothing, along with the graphic patterns which gives the line such a unique look.  Katrantzou describes her line as "A whirlwind of metal."  Well done.

Bohemian chic are the two words that come to mind with Matthew Williamson's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. The florals, shirtdresses, jumpsuits with warm colors.  It gives us such a beachy feel, but also, things to wear out in the city. Williamson describes his collection as "This is a wardrobe for a woman wherever she may be." And, I would have to agree with him, it certainly is.

Which line is your favorite?  Do tell!

Until next time...
